The Wassaic Project Summer Festival
curated by Eve + Bowie & Elan
Over 40 artists featuring site sensitive installations in the Maxon Mills, Luther Barn, and various exterior locations in Wassaic. As artists, Eve + Bowie & Elan have a unique curatorial sensibility. They encourage their artists to create and show work that can't be seen anywhere else. The show emphasizes experimental and under represented while reveling in the simple and accessible nature of art.

Rhys Chatham: A Crimson Grail, for 200 Electric Guitars (Wet Version)
Minimalist masterpiece? A maximum exercise in futility. After three nights of "rehearsals", we were brutally tortured in an outdoor oven for an afternoon rehearsal on the day of the show which was ultimately rained out. Apparently neither Rhys nor any of the other 20 or so other people involved checked the weather forecast that day. The whole day the weather bureau predicted severe thunderstorms & downpours for the hours... oh around 6pm -12midnight... there really are only three possibilities.
1. neither Rhys nor any of the other people involved in the organization of this project have access to electronic or printed news or weather stories.
2. they KNEW the weather forecast & (like hippies) thought "it'll be far out, man"
3. they're just assholes.
i'm gonna have to go with "ALL, of the above..."
plus, my guitar was damaged, i lost a new guitar stand & had to pay my own cab fare back to brooklyn.
